Jotun Arena was packed to the rafters on the evening of 7 August, as Sandefjord Fotball's bold 'Folkets Kamp' promotion drew a sell-out crowd for the Eliteserien home clash against KFUM Oslo. The club had slashed ticket prices to just 19 kroner — covering the booking fee alone — in a deliberate bid to throw open the gates of the stadium to the entire community.
The atmosphere was everything the club had hoped for. Supporters flooded in from across Sandefjord and beyond, making it one of the most well-attended home fixtures of the season. But the football itself delivered a painful sting in the tail.
