Sandefjord Fotball have bolstered their midfield with the signing of Swedish player Ervin Gigovic from Helsingborgs IF. The club confirmed the deal on 25 August, with Gigovic putting pen to paper on a contract running through to the end of 2030. The timing is deliberate: with the Brann home fixture on 30 August just days away and a string of demanding Eliteserien matches to follow at Jotun Arena, the squad is being reinforced for what could be a defining stretch of the season.
Swedish Reinforcement for the Autumn Push
Gigovic arrives as Sandefjord sit in 13th place following the defeat to KFUM Oslo, making the upcoming home programme at Jotun Arena all the more important. The stadium is set to host nine more home matches before the curtain comes down on the Eliteserien season in December, with Brann, Viking, Start, Lillestrøm, Molde, Tromsø and Vålerenga all still to visit.
The length of Gigovic's contract — stretching to 2030 — signals that the club views him as a long-term asset rather than a short-term fix, underlining broader ambitions beyond the current campaign.
A Packed Home Schedule Awaits
Jotun Arena will be a busy venue throughout the autumn. After the Brann match on 30 August, Viking arrive on 4 September, followed by Start on 20 September and Lillestrøm on 18 October. Molde and Tromsø complete the run before a final home date against Vålerenga on 13 December.
With the stands already sold out for Brann and momentum building after a record 15–0 cup win over Eidanger on 23 August, the new signing comes at a moment when confidence — and expectation — is rising around the club.
