Sold-Out Folkets Kamp Ends in Heartbreak as KFUM Oslo Win 1–0
A sold-out Jotun Arena roared on Sandefjord Fotball in their heavily promoted 'People's Match' against KFUM Oslo on 7 August, but the home side fell to a 1–0 defeat. The result compounds a difficult home run after Bodø/Glimt's 3–0 win at the same venue on 26 July. Sandefjord sit 13th in the Eliteserien with nine home games still to come.
A Packed House, a Painful Defeat
Jotun Arena was sold out for Sandefjord Fotball's Eliteserien home fixture against KFUM Oslo on 7 August 2026, with the club's headline 'Folkets Kamp' promotion drawing a full crowd to the stadium. Despite the electric atmosphere created by thousands of fans who paid just 19 kroner for their ticket, the home side fell to a 1–0 defeat against the Oslo outfit.
The result leaves Sandefjord in 13th place in the Eliteserien table with 15 points from 16 matches, level with Kristiansund immediately below them.
The People's Match Initiative
The occasion was the centrepiece of Sandefjord's 'Folkets Kamp' — The People's Match — campaign, under which supporters were admitted for just 19 kroner, the price of the booking fee alone. Tickets were made available through the SF App and the club's official website.
The promotion was designed to pack out Jotun Arena and create a standout matchday atmosphere for a top-flight fixture. By all accounts the crowd delivered on that front — but the footballing result did not follow.
A Difficult Stretch at Home
The defeat to KFUM Oslo follows a 3–0 home loss to Bodø/Glimt on 26 July, meaning Sandefjord have now taken zero points from their last two home matches at Jotun Arena. The Glimt fixture had also attracted significant interest, with over 3,500 tickets sold ahead of kick-off.
Despite the back-to-back home defeats, there is plenty still to play for. Sandefjord have nine home fixtures remaining at Jotun Arena this season, including visits from Brann, Viking, Lillestrøm, Molde, Tromsø and Vålerenga — a schedule that will go a long way to determining where the club finishes in the 2026 Eliteserien.
