A Late Viking Equaliser Denies Sandefjord
Sandefjord Fotball took the lead in the second half through Børkeeiet, but Viking struck back in injury time to share the points in a dramatic Eliteserien clash at Jotun Arena on 4 September.
The floodlit Thursday-night fixture had generated significant anticipation, with Viking arriving in Sandefjord as reigning league champions and a sell-out atmosphere expected under the lights at Nygårdsveien 84.
Børkeeiet Breaks the Deadlock
Sandefjord were the better side for long stretches and were rewarded early in the second half when Børkeeiet put the home side in front, sending the crowd inside the 6,500-capacity stadium into raptures.
Viking, however, refused to lie down and levelled on the stroke of full time, leaving Sandefjord to rue what could have been a crucial three points in the second half of the Eliteserien season.
Jotun Arena's Busy September Continues
The draw keeps the pressure on as Sandefjord enter a demanding run of home fixtures. Next up at Jotun Arena is the visit of IK Start on 20 September, with further home games against Lillestrøm, Molde, Tromsø and Vålerenga to follow before the curtain comes down on the 2026 season in December.
