Back-to-Back Defeats Leave Sandefjord 13th Ahead of Autumn Run
Sandefjord Fotball have suffered consecutive losses either side of the international break, slipping to 13th place in the Eliteserien. A 0–1 home defeat to KFUM Oslo at Jotun Arena on 7 August compounded a 1–0 away loss at Fredrikstad the week before. A demanding autumn schedule at Jotun Arena now offers the chance to respond.
A Punishing Week for Sandefjord
It has been a difficult run of results at Jotun Arena and on the road for Sandefjord Fotball heading into the second week of August. A 0–1 home defeat to KFUM Oslo on 7 August followed a 1–0 away loss at Fredrikstad on 1 August, leaving the club 13th in the Eliteserien standings with 15 points from 16 games.
The back-to-back losses have put pressure on a squad that had shown signs of form earlier in the summer, including a 2–0 home win over Kristiansund and a 1–0 victory against Aalesund at Jotun Arena.
Crowded Calendar Ahead
Despite the dip in form, Jotun Arena faces a packed fixture list for the autumn. Brann come to Sandefjord on 30 August, followed by Viking on 4 September — two fixtures that could prove pivotal in determining whether the club can climb clear of the lower reaches of the table.
Further home dates against Lillestrøm, Molde, Tromsø and Vålerenga await before the Eliteserien curtain comes down in December, giving the club ample opportunity to turn results around in front of their home supporters.
Home Advantage to the Fore
Jotun Arena's 105m x 68m artificial turf surface has historically served as a leveller against top opposition, and Sandefjord will be counting on that factor as they look to arrest their recent slide. With the arena having shown it can generate a real atmosphere — as demonstrated by the Folkets Kamp sellout — the coming months will test both squad and supporters alike.
