Gigović suspended as Sandefjord face Molde

2 min read

Sandefjord will be without the suspended Ervin Gigović for Sunday's Eliteserien home match against Molde at Jotun Arena. Molde are missing Mathias Fjørtoft Løvik through suspension, and both squads have several injury absences.

Gigović out for Sandefjord

Sandefjord will be without Ervin Gigović when Molde visit Jotun Arena on Sunday. Match data from FotMob lists the player as suspended for the fixture on November 8. The match kicks off at 5:00 PM local time.

Gigović is not the only absentee. The same listing names four more Sandefjord players who are unavailable through injury. Devon Koswal has a meniscus injury and is out for the season. Marcus Melchior has a cruciate ligament injury and is also out for the season.

Filip Loftesnes-Bjune (thigh) and Nikolaj Möller (ankle) are both listed as out until mid-November. Neither is expected back in time for Sunday.

Molde also hit by suspension

The visitors have problems of their own. Mathias Fjørtoft Løvik is suspended for the trip to Sandefjord, so both sides lose a player to a ban.

Molde's injury list is longer. Mads Kikkenborg (Achilles tendon), Seydina Diop (groin) and Vebjørn Hoff (knee) are all listed as out for the season. Eirik Hestad has a leg injury and is listed as out until mid-November. Halldor Stenevik has a groin injury, with a return date given as early November.

Absence lists can change before kick-off. Team news is normally confirmed closer to the match.

What is at stake

The league table shows how much the match matters to both clubs. Molde are third in the Eliteserien on 43 points after 25 games. They are level on points with fourth-placed Rosenborg.

Sandefjord are 12th on 27 points, also after 25 games. Fredrikstad in 11th are two points ahead on 29. Ham-Kam are directly below Sandefjord in 13th, level on 27 points. Aalesund in 14th have 24, three points behind.

With so little separating the clubs in the lower half of the table, every home point at Jotun Arena counts for Sandefjord. Their depleted squad will be tested by one of the division's strongest sides.

Supporters heading to the ground can find the stadium at Nygårdsveien in Sandefjord. Kick-off is at 5:00 PM on Sunday.
